Dachshunds have been my pets off and on since I was six. I'm not going to tell how long ago that was but a stamp cost three cents. Since then Dachshunds have been the main love for me. The Dachshunds I had as a kid were standard Dachshunds. Now I have been breeding miniature dachshunds for a few years. Dachshunds are loyal, intelligent, inquisitive, dramatic, lively, affectionate, greedy, stubborn, energetic and humorous little bundles of personality. Dachshunds come in a wide range of colors and patterns. Dachshunds are unique little dogs, thus the reason so many want to own them. From time to time we will have liters of pups that will be home raised and socialized. Most of these pups will be sold as pet dachshunds with limited AKC registration.

When I started researching dogs in preparation to start breeding. I found that the information I needed was located all over the place. Some of the information requires some work to get to. So as I search it out I decided to included the most useful of it in my web site ( So I know where to go when I need to find it.)

If you are thinking about getting a dog consider a rescued dog . You know one from the animal shelter. First they are cheaper, their health has been checked, microchiped, shots, etc. Most of them are so glad to have a home that they will try their very best to please you. Contact your local Humane Society . Before getting a dog you should ask yourself some questions? You might want to read the list I got from the AKC ( AKC List for beginning owners ). The web site for the AKC is http://www.akc.org/ . This is a large site and you might get lost the first few times there. I am including some lists from the site to help you get a quick start, however you should to the site for more complete research.

I am going to give a brief description of the menu to assist you in finding things.

First is the Home section which includes, Home which will get you back here form other pages., Contact Us if you have any questions, Search and Reference lets you search the site and a list of reference material, and Sitemap and Links which is a map of the site and links to other sites that may be of interest.

The Puppies section includes Puppy Information about AKC registration and spaying and neutering, Puppy Application gives me information about you to aid me in pricing. Puppy Socialization gives information developing a dog with a good temperament. Pricing gives you some idea about what I have to do to figure out the price of a pup. Shipping gives some of the regulations and cost for shipping a dog. Dams and Sires shows pictures of the Females and Males in my pack.

Puppies for Sale has new Puppy Photo's, a page for the purchase for new puppies Puppy Purchase, and announcement of new litters and pictures of past litters in Upcoming and Past litters. If I have any Older pups ( over three months ) they would be found here. I add a Customer Satisfaction page in case their customers what to rate me. There are Litter pages for both Cinnamon and Sable where you can see most of the pictures that I took of the latest litter.

The Health section has general Dog Health ( local Vet's )and Dachshund Health. One of the problems with puppies is that they will eat or chew on anything. So there is information on Poisoning, Poison Plants, and Home care and Prevention. Also there is information on dog Sickness. remember the best thing you can do for your dogs health is to get a good Vet.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) website has a lot of information, I included some of it on my website Information for Dog Buyers and Dog Owners. The Dachshund Breed Standard describes the ideal dachshunds. There is a list of Conformation Terms (show terms), a list of the Types of Championships and their Championship Titles.

There is a section on the Genetic Cross that starts with Terms and goes with the examples of different types of crosses. There are examples of the three types of Monohybrid Cross #1, #2, and #3. There is an example of a Dihybrid Cross. and a discussion of rear world genetics and Polygenetics.

Dachshund Traits describes the genetics of dachshunds. Dachshund Genetics give you the terms that are used. Coat Series describes the types of coats (hair), Color Series explains the genes involved in the different colors of dachshunds. Pattern Series describes the genetics and types of the different patterns of dachshunds. Eyes and Nose describes different eye and nose colors.

What your dog eats is very important. Dog Food will help you find out what you need to know. Nutrition will give you the AAFCO dog food nutrient profiles. Dog Food Labels explains the terms that you will find on your dog food. Additives and other things that you may find in your dog food can be found in Ingredients. Tips and tricks is a section that I decide to put in that has things I have learned over time. It also has some products that I use. I will be adding things to page as time goes by.
